How to Make Photo Gift Cards No Special Software Required!
Making someone either a card with a special photo or a personalized gift card is an easy and thoughtful personalized gift.
Know Your Printer Settings
I use the basic software that came with my Canon scanner.
Most printers give you the option to print a photo a certain size.
For our 2 gift cards per regular sheet of paper, you need to set your photo size to 3x5 and rotate your photo so the photo bottom prints on the paper bottom.
Use White Paper Stock
For the best and most clear duplication, use a white matte paper stock setting. I use a white matte paper with a little weight to it so the ink doesn't appear on the back.
After setting up your photo size and rotating it, set your printer to a photo setting and print.
If you've rotated the photo correctly, it will print on half the paper.
To make another card, rotate the paper, re-set your chosen photo and print another card on the other side.
Cut the card in half; fold; add your special message inside.
Personalize Your Card
If this is a photo you took or a special occasion, add date and name of photographer on card edge.
If you want to get envelopes, number 5 1/2 works well; these envelopes are 4 3/8" x 5 3/4" inch. Pick them up at any business supply store. They are often available in white as well as other colors.
Print Personalized Postcards, Too!
By changing your print setting to 4x6 inch size, you can print off photos, cut them out and easily make them into postcards.
Add a line down the center on the back; use the right side for the mailing address. The left side is your message, leaving a 3/4-inch blank space on the bottom for the US Postal Service scanning band.
Don't forget to add a stamp before you mail!
