1997 32 Commemorative Raggedy Ann Doll 4962/7500
Celebrating John Gruelle's dolls 80th anniversary in 1997, Applause made these "authentic reproduction" boxed dolls of the 1940s classic cloth doll in limited edition. This is doll 4962 out of 7500.
It took nearly 10 years to settle on the 17 dolls that would grace the “Classic American Dolls” 15-stamp panel released in 1997. That was the dilemma that long-time stamp designer Derry Noyes and photographer Sally Andersen-Bruce faced in the late 1980s when the U.S. Postal Service decided to print a set of stamps featuring American dolls. The dolls pictured on the 32-cent stamps were gathered from collectors and museums around the country. They included a Native American hide doll and a Raggedy Ann Doll.
This 1997 32-cent Commemorative Raggedy Ann Doll includes a certificate of authenticity which matches the number on a printed label on the back side of the cloth doll.
Box is in excellent condition with a little fading.
The doll includes a 32-cent US stamp of the same doll. Price includes shipping to continental US and a free gift tag, just tell us what you want hand-written on the card.
